Emerald Hospital Travel Office moves upstairs

Emerald Hospital’s Travel Office has relocated to the peace and quiet of the first floor. In an effort to offer patients greater privacy and comfort in discussing their claims related to medical issues, Patient Travel has been relocated to offices adjacent to the lift on the first floor.

New health boss on Highlands

The new Central Highlands general manager of Central Queensland Hospital and Health Services brings a wealth of experience and is looking forward to working closely with other services in the region. Gil Rankin started work from her Emerald Hospital base last week (25 July) and is focused on facilitating patient-centred care across the Central Highlands, including Emerald, Springsure, Blackwater, the Gemfields, Capella and Tieri.

Emerald operating theatre stays busy

More Central Highlanders are accessing surgery at Emerald Hospital’s Operating Theatres, thanks to support from a number of providers. Executive Director Medical Services Dr Tim Smart said more than 600 surgical procedures were done in Emerald every year.

Emerald Patient Travel Office extends hours

Emerald Hospital Patient Travel Office is opening for longer to enable faster processing of Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme claims for Central Highlanders. The office (phone 4987 9404) is now open daily from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4pm. The friendly team is able to support all enquiries regarding travel bookings, itineraries and subsidy payments for health services.

Emerald Hospital scores perfect result for patients

No patient is waiting longer than they should for a specialist appointment at Emerald Hospital. This is one of the rare occasions that a big fat ZERO warrants a major celebration. Nobody is prouder than Senior Administration Officer Jodie Lowther who has worked tirelessly with the Emerald team to ensure every patient who needs to see a specialist gets an appointment on time.

Emerald Hospital supports local families

Emerald Hospital is helping families stay healthy by providing free childhood immunisations with child health checks. Cathy Hampton, Nurse Unit Manager Child Health, said parents could now organise their child’s immunisation and in the same appointment have their child’s developmental health checked.

Emerald patients treated at home instead of hospital

Emerald Hospital is providing a new service to allow suitable patients to recover in their own homes. Hospital in the Home staff visit eligible patients to provide clinical treatment and services, allowing people to stay in their own homes instead of in hospital.
